The Ghana Kho Kho Federation (GKKF) is the official body championing the growth and development of Kho Kho in Ghana. Established in 2018 under the INDIGAME project by SportDrive Inc., in partnership with the Department of Physical Education and Sports Studies at the University of Ghana, GKKF is dedicated to institutionalizing indigenous games and promoting their cultural and competitive value.
Kho Kho, a traditional Indian sport known for its emphasis on agility, strategy, and teamwork, was recognized as closely aligning with Ghana’s native game, Antoe-Kyere. This connection inspired the Federation's mission to integrate Kho Kho into Ghana’s sporting culture.
In 2020, four Ghanaian sports professionals participated in the first-ever Kho Kho coaching camp in India, a pivotal moment in the sport’s introduction to Ghana. Since then, GKKF has focused on grassroots initiatives, community outreach, and school programs to popularize Kho Kho nationwide. Our efforts have borne fruit with Ghana receiving an invitation to participate in the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup, set to take place in New Delhi, India, from January 13th to 19th, 2025. This event symbolizes our commitment to building a global presence for Ghana in indigenous sports.
To develop, institutionalize, and promote Kho Kho as a competitive sport in Ghana, while preserving cultural heritage and fostering youth participation in sports.
To make Kho Kho a national pride in Ghana and establish the country as a hub for the development of indigenous sports in Africa.
View CertificateThrough partnerships with schools nationwide, we introduce Kho Kho to young players aged 5-17. Our national athletes serve as mentors, inspiring the next generation to embrace the sport and hone their skills.
Participation in the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup marks a milestone for Ghana, offering players a global platform for cultural exchange and showcasing Ghana’s dedication to indigenous sports.
Working closely with government bodies, we aim to integrate Kho Kho into national sports initiatives, secure funding, and ensure sustainable growth for the sport. At the Ghana Kho Kho Federation, we believe in the power of sports to unite, inspire, and celebrate cultural heritage. Join us in our journey to make Kho Kho a cornerstone of Ghanaian sports culture!
